Three New Puppies {52 Snapshots of Life Week 1}

Typist: Bethany
The beginning of the year is usually when people create goals, resolutions and make plans for the future. Yet for some reason this time of year causes me to reflect on the past, particularly how quickly time flies. In dog time, days whiz by in a blur! Everyday I spend with Wilhelm, Brychwyn and Huxley I am amazed at how quickly they grow and the progress they continue to make in training and socialization. Looking back at when my best friends were new additions to my life reminds me that each and everyday with them is the most special of gifts. In that sense, I think spending my New Year reflecting on the past, actually helps me to enjoy the present and wisely plan for the future. I treasure my dogs at every stage of life, past, present and future. There is no better way to cherish the new by embracing the old. (Especially when my old dogs were so very cute as new puppies!)
Black and tan dapple miniature long haired dachsund puppy Wilhelm.
Blue merle cardigan welsh corgi puppy Brychwyn
Harlequin blue merle rough collie puppy Huxley.
What kind of perspective do you gain from reflecting on the past?

Thank you, Jan. I like to think nurture had a little to do with all the handsome they have now too! I love what those puppies have become and while I love looking back, I don't miss those puppies. Even the smell. Honest! I still like the way all three boys smell. :)

LOVE the puppy pictures (especially Huxley....LOL!). And I agree if fun to look back on the past and see how far you've come. It helps in appreciating the now and the future.

Huxley was kind of smooth back then wasn't he? tee, hee! It is so hard to stay focused on the here and now that every little bit, even glances into the rear view mirror, do make a difference. Happy New Year to you and your boys!

I am so glad you are hosting this photo challenge, Christina. And I think there is something cuter than a puppy, one that grows into an intelligent, fulfilled, well-traveled, well-behaved, gorgeous and loved DOG!

We're like you, and always look at the past this time of the year. It doesn't seem like you can ever really plan out what's going to happen in the year to come, especially for us this time. Oh and that is one adorable puppy! Love Dolly

In November, when my grandfather died 41 days after Jason's sister's death, I sent an e-mail to my students to cancel yet another bunch of scheduled classes and the subject line read 'The best laid plans..." Surprises happen, which is a good lesson from the past. But if I had never made plans, I wouldn't have been lucky enough to watch these adorable puppies grow into handsome dogs.

Oh, cuteness overload! Hard to believe a year ago we had a puppy and now she is a dog at 18 months. Sweet photos!

I still have some pictures of that puppy playing with Huxley at BlogPaws. They had a blast together! Time goes by too quickly... I haven't even gone through those old photos. But when I do, they'll be like new! :)

Awww! Especially the middle foto. Everything old is new again. I don’t like to reflect on the old days when I was in the shelters.

Oh my goodness... what incredible puppy pictures!!!!

For me, reflecting on the past always makes me think of my dogs who are now angels. And that makes me want to seize every single day to enjoy with my dogs. Like you said, time goes by so fast with a dog, too fast - but all we can do is enjoy each day!

What cuties, no wonder they are so adorable now. Great question too. Reflecting on the past makes me more resolved to treasure each moment as it happens…and be kind. Past times of kindness to others and from others are some of the best memories.
