Welcome to the chronicles of two active humans, three busy canines, one crazy psittacine and an energetic feline in Seattle, the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Who are the Cascadian Nomads?

The crazy psittacine is a Triton Cockatoo named Leo Xavier "Peepers." He was hatched at a cutting edge avian facility in Florida on July 31st, 2000 and was weened at Torrey's Parrots in Spokane. Leo came home to Seattle just after Thanksgiving in 2000 and has been traveling, talking, singing, mess making and testing ever since.

The two active humans are long time partners, Bethany & Jason. After the age of covered wagons, in the age of pea soup green Dodge camper vans, Bethany's family took the Oregon trail west from New York state and settled in Cascadia. She has lived all over this beautiful country, from BC to Eastern Washington to various locals in Oregon and would never live anywhere else. Jason was born and raised in Cascadia, as were his parents. While he has been known to venture outside of the great Pacific Northwest, he always returns. He knows his travels just solidify what he has always felt in his soul, that Cascadia is the most beautiful place anyone could be fortunate enough to see and spend time in and he has the privilege of living here!

The three busy canines are Romeo's A Simple Twist Of Fate, RN, CGC, TDI, RA "Wilhelm," a spunky black and tan dapple miniature long-haired dachshund, Rhoswen Tangled Up In Blue, RN, CGC, TDI, RA "Brychwyn," (pronounced Br-eye-quin) a brilliant blue merle Cardigan Welsh Corgi and Romany Shelter From The Storm, CGC, RN "Huxley" a strong-willed and bodied harlequin blue merle Rough Collie. Sometimes known as 'R' Blood On The Tracks Boys (like the album their names hail from) they are all Cascadian born and proud as well.
Wilhelm was born in the shadow of Mount Rainier, Packwood, Washington, on August 21st, 2007. When he came to Seattle at 7 and a half weeks old, he became little brother to a beautiful black Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Labrador Retriever mix named Tynan (forever home with us from the Seattle Humane Society in March of 2001.) Tynan and Wilhelm were like two peas in a very oddly shaped pod until Tynan left this world at the (possible) age of 11 in spring of 2010. But in early 2011, Wilhelm became the big brother when Brychwyn came to live with us. Brychwyn was born on November 9th, 2010 into a chilly winter on a farm outside of Boise, Idaho. It is because of this that Brychwyn has always loved the snow. Together, Wilhelm and Brychwyn were and still are an unstoppable force of short legged wrestling, chasing and cuddling. Since three's company, Huxley, born November 10th, 2011 in Camas, Washington, came to live with us just after the New Year in 2011. Overly friendly and helpful, like a good old-fashioned farm collie should be, Huxley's loyalty to his "big" brothers as well as he rest of his close and extended family, knows no bounds. Together, this variety pack of canines have come together to enjoy the wonders of Cascadia and beyond.

We nomads also share our lives in Cascadia with an amazingly energetic indoor cat, Amelia. In November of 2010, Amelia came to her forever home with us from the Seattle Animal Shelter. She is a beautiful Abyssinian tabby with all the brains and brawn you'd expect from the mix. Spiders and foil balls all fear her stealthy hunting skills. She holds with her all of the lessons of life taught to her by our wisest family member Gryphon (1994-2013) as well as what he learned from our founding cat, Emily (1990-2008.) We know a lot of people share wonderful adventures and travels with their cats, but so far Amelia is less nomadic and more nesting in personality. She does occasionally enjoy safe walks in her enclosed stroller as well as harnessed tours of our yard and garden. Amelia has lot's of friends and family to be with them when the Cascadian Nomads are wandering the world.
