The Healing Power Of Animals Wordless Wednesday

Typist: Bethany
I have been spending a lot of time at the hospital lately. Jason's sister Debbie can tell you in her own words here why all of our lives have been turned upside down for the past few months (and one of the reasons I haven't been around my blog or yours very much.) I am on month three of not being well myself but no matter how I am feeling, frequent visits with Debbie at the hospital are an absolute must. The last few trips, I took pictures of some of the animals whose faces have been greeting me and attempting to bring cheer during this extremely difficult time.
Hospital lobby mural with a dog
Pup on a mural in the hospital lobby.
Hospital gift shop item with cat face
Cat face on an item in the hospital gift shop.
Hospital lobby painting with an egret and parrots
I am very drawn to this painting. I frequently walk towards it and miss the turn to the parking garage. Birds are definitely very healing animals.
Hospital visitor lounge saltwater fishtank
There are fish tanks near the waiting room on each floor. I feel like I have gotten to know the fish in the saltwater tank on Debbie's floor.
Portrait of a corgi in a hospital lobby
Even though this is not my favorite kind of corgi, the little Welsh dog in this portrait near the elevator always makes me smile.
Best of all animal healers are my very own wonderful pets (plus our West Seattle views can't help but make us all a little healthier too!)

Oh wow, animals, animals a and more animals. Yes! I think we agree they help and heal. So much gentleness and love can only be the nest medicine. I know what you mean about not visiting sometimes, but wait, take a deep breath, one day you WILL be able to visit and you will get the warmest of welcomes ALL OVER!!

It has indeed been so nice to see Debbie smile when I visit. She complains that laughing hurts so Jason and I joke with her lightly. We just can't resist trying to lighten her spirits or maybe take her mind off of the pain for the briefest of moments.

Sending Debbie prayers and healing thoughts. It seems that hospitals always have a fish tank ... fish are mesmerizing to watch. Sending you Golden LOVE.

Thank you. Watching fish is very relaxing and this tank has helped with awkward silences or just plain bad moments in the waiting room.

I don't doubt the healing power of animals. I think it's mainly because they make us happy and relaxed. People heal better in such a state.

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, and having to spend time around a hospital is never fun. Nice they have all the animal stuff around though.

Those of us that love animals can find them anywhere, can't we? That painting is beautiful and I love the little wall corgi.

Sending healing wishes to you and your sister-in-law.

I was sorry to read about Debbie and also to learn that you have not been feeling well for so long. It is nice that the hospital has so many animal images and the fish tank to help people feel better. I hope that you and Debbie both are feeling better soon.
