St. Patrick's Day #ScoopThatPoop Limericks By The Cascadian Nomads Leprechauns

This 17th of March brings the usual annual celebration of the patron saint of Ireland but also the monthly Scoop That Poop blog hop. As a part of the continuing effort to educate and remind responsible owners to clean up after their dogs and in celebration of all things Irish, we present to you a collection of Scoop That Poop limericks. There's also an adorable collection of photos completely unrelated to the poems but unmistakeably Cascadian Nomads (leprechauns.)

T
here once was a handsome dog group

Reminding you to scoop that poop

They're green leprechauns

Caring about lawns

Which stay healthier if you scoop!

Responsible dog owners stoop

They never fail to scoop that poop

It's gross on the ground

If laying around

Dog poop makes plants and shamrocks droop.

Picture

Dogs will inevitably poop

Always bring bags so you can scoop

It won't wash away

On the ground germs stay

Bacteria sickens your troop.

When you are out sailing your sloop

No one wants water that has poop

Water isn't clean

Dog owners are mean

When they don't rememberto scoop!

There once was a kind Irish dog

Who walked in the mist and the fog

Every time he'd poop

His owner did scoop

Even if it was a gross log.

When there's something smeared on your shoe

You loudly cry "why is this true?

From whence this foul poop

That no one did scoop

My whole day was truly made blue."

Haha--brilliant :) Here in Curaçao it's the scoopers who are rare. Every once in a while us responsible dog owners will get together and clean up a beach, but the next day the poop's back. Sad, really. Then again, there's no public wastebins, either--what can one expect, eh? You know which country impressed me with its dog-awareness? Peru. Especially the capital, Lima; there's this huge area on a cliff by the ocean that's been turned into a park, and lots of people walk their dogs there (on- and off-leash, which kind of panicked me at first, but these dog owners know what they're doing)--and you don't see a single poop anywhere. There's public garbage cans everywhere, and some even have a dispenser for poop bags. In LATIN AMERICA! Yes, I was impressed. (I should probably clarify I'm Mexican before you peg me as a judgmental pig ;) ).

I am surprised about that, Guilie, and I am a gringo who has only visited Latin America (I hope that doesn't make me judgmental)... life with dogs is very different there. But clean water is important everywhere! So glad that at least one place has figured it out.

Love the photos! And the limericks too of course. Shiner lucked out this St. Patty's day since I don't have anything for her to dress up in.

I. Have. No. Words. You might have too much time on your hands! With respect to the poetry, not the pix!

What, doesn't everyone spend their free time thinking of words that rhyme with "poop?" :) The funny part is, the limerick's were easy and fun for both Jason and I, but I stayed up all night making the costumes and Jason got his camera a bit too wet for the photo shoot!
