Good morning Ogden, Utah!
Typist: Bethany
Leo has never left Cascadia so waking up in Ogden, Utah was a special treat (even if I still had not gotten enough sleep.) It was a gorgeous day and colored in the sixteenth state on Wilhelm, Brychwyn and Huxley's "States I've Visited" shirts.

The very best part our morning in Ogden was that we had yet another dog visit planned. No corgis this time. We got to meet beautiful and famous Petal from Loved By A Collie. Marquie found a great off-leash area in Ogden for the dogs meet and play. We walked along the Weber River (Petal waded in it,) played on agility equipment, ran, sniffed and had a great time. Petal even met Leo.
I think that this interaction between Petal and Wilhelm is very sweet. They had just met... I wonder what Petal is telling Wilhelm?

Day 3 drive from Ogden to Moab, Utah.
After all the fun with Petal and some technical (broken laptop charger) difficulties, we left Ogden late. It was totally per par for this trip. No stress. Just late. Fortunately, I got to enjoy the beautiful stretch of road between Ogden and Moab in the daylight. And we arrived in Moab with enough time to get the tent up before it got dark. The view of the La Sal Mountains and the red rocks from our campsite are stunning. I can tell we have a lot more Utah enjoyment ahead of us.

Goodnight Moab!
Please forgive any & all rough spots in this post as it has been done on mobile from the road! We will be reading and enjoying your comments but, due to being on the road, it will be difficult for us to respond right away. Thanks for understanding and for coming along on our adventure.

Ah, yes, the whole reason Leo was able to join us on this long road trip was the expectation of lots and lots of sun; it's what a white bird was made for.

How exciting you got to meet Petal from Loved by a Collie!!! The kids look like they had a fantastic time playing together.

The humans were more excited about meeting the famous dogs than the dogs were! But once they warmed up, I don't think they wanted their new pack split up.

And we have learned that a road trip with lots of (dog) friend visits is the best kind of all!

I love Moab, you guys are going to have a blast there. Hike to corona arch, it's very dog friendly. Since you can't hike in the Park, it's a nice alternative.

Thank you! We had a wonderful Corona/Bow Tie Arch hike. I kind of wish we were still there... it was so warm and beautiful. The blooming cacti... I loved the river... ah!

I wish that particular desert wasn't so far away and I missed the trees, but Moab is now on the top of my "must go back SOON" list.

Leo "barked" and called to the doggies while we played at the off leash park. It was very funny!

How cool to be able to have a play date with Petal! Awesome photos and that looks like a wonderful park. Leo is so funny and he looks great in the sunshine :)

Watching these posts with interest - we'll be moving across the country in about a month and taking a several day road trip with four dogs and a cat. I think we will definitely have to find some dog parks to stop at along the way.

Some safe off leash time on a road trip is nice but be prepared to abort a planned off leash park visit if the park isn't what you expected. Marquie was kind enough to check this one out before we met her but there was also a walking trail and other aspects to the park we could have explored and enjoyed more if the off leash park had been crowded/not nice/dirty/full of poisonous plants (yeah, I've seen it)/etc. We were also lucky to have shade and a not to hot day so Leo could play in his cage in the van while we had off leash time. I checked on Leo frequently though!

Thanks, Lara. Moab was amazing and I can;t wait to go back. I also can't wait to meet up with Petal again someday. She was just so fun to watch in person!
