People fail at diets all the time. I know. I used to work full time in the health and fitness industry. Unfortunately, I think we humans let our expectations of the fallibility of diets set our pets up for failure when we try to help them lose weight. Perhaps a prescription diet, one that is actually formulated to help an overweight animal’s metabolism change to act more like that of a lean animal, can finally help with the dog weight loss or cat weight loss your best friend needs. And when it comes to the quality of life for our overweight cats or dogs, wouldn't it be wonderful if you "gained a friend" like Bear's Hill's® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution success story:

Picture
Lennie before Hill's® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution at 14.6lbs.
I know that when I noticed Amelia was overweight it affected our relationship. She didn't want to play as often or for as long. I missed hearing her sprint through the house at full speed crashing into and knocking over anything and everything that got in her way. Well, wait. Now that she's doing that again, maybe I didn't miss it... No. I did. Because it makes me smile. And our pets are supposed to make us happy! But when I have had a dog or cat that needs to lose weight, there is more pity and guilt and less laughter. I have truly wanted my friend back.

Lennie 180 days after Hill's® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution at 11.4lbs.
But I have also wanted my own waist line to be smaller as I have had client after client after client who have "tried everything" to lose weight. If "everything" doesn't work for humans, what works for our pets? Well, when I see success Hill's® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution stories like Bear's and Lennie's, I believe that talking to a vet about weight loss for dogs and cats can make a difference. I have personally experienced the joy in successfully helping a pet lose weight and I think everyone should find something that works, like maybe a prescription diet, to help get a wonderful relationship back with their dog or cat too.

We have been hearing good things about this food. It would be great if one of the dog food companies could make a grain free diet dog food

Although prevention is better then cure some animals need all the help they get in when getting back into shape. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly

You're right, Molly, but sometimes humans don't notice their pets (or themselves) gaining weight. There are also the wonderful people who adopt overweight pets! They do indeed need any assistance available in getting the weight off.

It's unfortunate that overweight pets are a problem everywhere. Hopefully, with the sharing of success stories, those struggling to help their dog or cat with weight loss, will be encouraged to keep trying!

Nice to see your cat out on a walk. It's great exercise. We posted our Hills post today too.

Amelia is definitely more fond of rides in her stroller, but short leash walks are a must!

Glad it's working for Amelia! Mr. N will self-regulate and work off excess energy on his own but I have to keep a close eye on Onyxx to make sure he doesn't get fat.

Amelia lost her weight before we learned about Hill's® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution but it is always good to share diet success stories- including the way you keep a watchful eye on foster dog Onyxx's weight- so that people know to not give up when it comes to helping their pet maintain or regain a healthy weight. Diets, pet or human, can be very discouraging. But it is so important to keep trying, even a prescription dog or cat diet.

I don't know how well it works, and work it might, but did any of you read the ingredients?

I always read and research the ingredients of everything that goes into or onto my pets, as should everyone. While Hill's® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution might not be the first or most ideal option for all pets, just as not all diets work for all humans, the more options people have to help their dogs or cats lose weight, the better.
