Misunderstood: Three Dogs, A Cat & A Cockatoo Thought It Was "Pets Have Thumbs Day"

3/4/2015

Every March 3rd a silly pet holiday occurs. The Cascadian Nomads humans had been preparing for the holiday by discussing what Wilhelm, Brychwyn, Huxley, Amelia and Leo would do if they had thumbs. Apparently, the pets misunderstood the holiday preparations and on March 3rd, they were frustrated to discover that they had not, in fact, grown opposable appendages. Yesterday was IF Pets Had Thumbs Day, not Pets Have Thumbs Day and there were five very disappointed Cascadian Nomads...
If Pets Had Thumbs Day... Trtion cockatoo Leo, rough collie Huxley and Dr. Seuss book page about a fabulous pet.
Brushing. combing fun between pet chums most definitely requires thumbs!
If Pets Had Thumbs Day: Adventure cat Amelia sniffs the steering wheel.
Thumbs are all that's needed...
If Pets Had Thumbs Day: Adventuyre cat Amelia day dreams about driving away.
... to be the ultimate adventure cat!
If Pets Had Thumbs Day: Rough collie Huxley can lift the door latch with his long nose but her needs thumbs to open the lock!
The door handle is no problem without thumbs. It's that pesky lock.
If Pets Had Thumbs Day: Blue merle cardigan welsh corgi Brychwyn would use a thumb to unlatch his leash and be free!
Corgi thumbs would mean no more leash.
If Pets Had Thumbs Day: Miniature dachshund Wilhelm sniffs the latched trash cupboard.
A dachshunds nose knows...
If Pets Had Thumbs Day: Minature dachshund Wilhelm stares up at the trash cupboard latch his thumbless existance prevents him from opening.
...thumbs are very useful little things!
If Pets Had Thumbs Day: Thumbs aren't the only problem a corgi and a dachshund have with opeing the garden gate. When is pets get taller day?
When is pets grow taller day?

Thumbs would be awesome, but they would also eliminate the need to be served as much as we are now, so I guess going without thumbs isn't so bad :)

Hi Y'all!

Why don't we have thumbs? I always thought it was Humans designed it so they could make us do whatever they wanted us to do.

Taller and thumbs! Then we could rule the world!

Y'all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog

HA! The thought of Harley with thumbs is a scary thought indeed! My house (like yours) would be chaotic at best. Cute photos of everyone!

I agree about the door locks being the problem, I can open them if they're not locked.

Ah yes, a Dachshund's nose knows, indeed! If we had thumbs we would be running the show! Seems like every day is some sort of holiday. Don't think we'll celebrate this one next year (unless I inherit thumbs by then)! *wags* - Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com

Mia agrees... door handles are no problem, but why do we have to lock the doors?

I totally forgot about If Pets Had Thumbs Day! (Posted about it a few years back I recall...) Rita would love to have thumbs solely for opening the fridge door. Cute pics!!

This was great! I had no idea it was Pet Thumbs day. But what I really laughed out loud over was the last picture with Wilhelm & Brychwyn wanting to know when its grow taller day.
