Get The Gear For Summer Activities With Pets, Enter The Gigantic #PetBloggerGiveaway

PictureLeo's first time in a tent, Moab, Utah.
Typist: Bethany
We are so lucky to have already gotten to do a bit of our favorite pet friendly summer activity this year- camping!  I have been camping with dogs my entire life and I can't imagine going without them. Last month, I upped the pet camping ante and took nomad cockatoo Leo along. I thought there would be an adjustment period for this first time parrot camper but he very cheerily took to tent living. Leo didn't mind the tent being shaken by the breeze at Grand Canyon National Park. In fact, he thoroughly enjoyed watching the local wild birds from the safety of his nylon and mesh home away from home. During our stays at Moab and Lake Mead,  the tent got too warm to spend much time in but having a safe place for meals and some cage free time was just enough to make Leo fall in love with camping and me adore having him with us.

Now that I know Leo can handle a fabulous camping vacation, it's time for a new challenge: Amelia. I think that Cascadian cat Amelia will like traveling and I want to start by taking her camping a few times this summer. The first thing I have to do is get the gear! Traveling with a cat will be new to me so I want to be prepared for anything. I found a pet tent on sale that she has already made herself comfortable in both inside and out.

What an awesome, awesome giveaway! How truly grateful tuck & I would be as money is tight in the winter! Summer is our only busy work time cuz we run off of tourism here in the San Juan Islands! We would love this :)

I have a friend that travels with her 4 cats. They sleep in their camper, so a little different than the tent but it can be done!! I've been curious what all you took for a 3 week trip so will be back tomorrow to check it out. Thanks so much for hosting this huge give away!! We'll be hitting the road at the end of July ourselves.

There was a camping cat across the road from us at Lake Mead. They were in a van, though. I am so glad you are getting out on a road trip this summer. I hope your going to the beach!

My favorite activity with my dog is walking him to the Lake, he LOVES the ducks.

That will certainly be an adventure with Amelia and Leo and the pups all going. One thing to think about is how will they handle a storm while out camping. Many many years ago we had a little dog near us at a camping site that went crazy when a storm hit. One of those things you don't think about until it happens :)

You're right, thank you. We did fine in the thunder and lightening downpour in Michigan and the 75MPH winds at Lake Mead... but we slept in the van. If Amelia comes camping with us, we'd stick to staying a few hours from home since my unseasonable weather plan would be to evacuate!

Thank you so much for this opportunity. In about a months time I will be taking my ferocious kitty on a camping trip and I KNOW that there are a lot of things I will need to get to be prepared for something like that, so he may have fun and also stay safe at the same time. <3 Once again, thank you! Your blog and animal safety awareness makes me smile and I usually learn something new every day. :3

My favorite thing to do with my pets are to just cuddle on movie nights with the family. This year we may take our new cat on our camping trip! Should be very interesting :)

My biggest fear about camping with Amelia is that IF the unthinkable were to happen and she got lost, her recall is, well, that of a cats. As she gets more and more comfortable in her harness, I may just leave it on her all the time (even in the tent!) for extra security.

I've been on a roll lately with giveaways....this one would make #3. Is three times the charm?

I think its great that Leo loves camping! Our dogs like going on vacation with us (usually camping) but we've always left the cat, rabbit and tortoise at home.

Well since we have cats summer and winter activities are pretty much the same. One of our cats does like to go outside on a leash but she doesn't go far.
