Four Special Days Made For One Wonderful Weekend

On Friday we celebrated my Gotcha Day. It has been three years since Bethany and Wilhelm came to the shelter and I decided to go home with them. One of my very favorite parts of having a forever home is all of the safe, warm places I have to sleep, so the first thing I did on my Gotcha Day was sleep in.
Picture
After a delicious Gotcha Day breakfast, it was time to play. I also love that my forever home has seemingly endless amounts of toys to play with but a sparkly ball is always my favorite.
I also had some playtime with my dogs but they never seem to know when to quit! So when a tired cat like me tries to take a Gotcha Day nap, everywhere I turned there was a dog...

Can I leap over Huxley to the chair?

Brychwyn says the couch is taken.

I tried to share Wilhelm's crate.

Even the bed was too crowded for a proper nap.
Eventually, I found another wonderful spot for sleeping. It might of been in the way of Bethany doing some laundry but she let me rest since it was such a special day. I woke up later for one more scrumptious meal and a game of sparkly ball soccer with Jason. What a very excellent Gotcha Day I got to have. I definitely made the right forever home choice that noteworthy day three years ago.

Celebrating is exhausting.

On Saturday we celebrated my Birthday. It's been three years since my beautiful dam, Gabby, had me and my five litter mates. The day started off with our usual playtime in the yard.
Picture
Yes, Wilhelm, the chase is on. I think 3-year-old corgis are faster!
After a yummy breakfast we headed out for a walk. But this wasn't just an ordinary walk! We went to two pet stores where Wilhelm, Huxley and I were given lots of treats, Being the amazingly handsome corgi that I am, I always get a great deal of attention whenever I am out and about but on this walk, everyone kept wishing me a Happy Birthday. How did they know?

Loving my birthday walk.

"I'm so happy, it's my birthday."

"Happy Birth Day"
I have to admit I was a little tired when we got home from the walk but there was more birthday fun to come! I got a special chew, a new toy and two, yes two, peanut butter dog cookies. Bethany and Jason played a bunch of songs that are all about me.

I will chew after a little nap.

I'm never too tired to tug with a new toy.

It's my new birthday toy and I didn't want that stuffing in it!

Really? For me?!
While I very much appreciated all of the attention, treats and gifts, I did a little math and if I am 3-years-old in human years that makes me 21 in dog years. I have been told that 21-year-old humans get to have beer so I thought I should too! (You can find out all about my love of beer here.) Bethany and Jason thought I was being funny. I pouted my cutest pout and went to bed. It was still a good day but even at a very mature 3-year-old, a corgi has got to be dramatic.

This is not the beer I had in mind...

On Sunday we celebrated my Birthday. Two years ago my gorgeous dam, Storm, gave birth to me and my eight litter mates. Our usual playtime in the yard was extra special because I had a long tug with Bethany and I got to pose for some fun pictures. It's simply not a birthday without fun party hats.

Birthday tugs are the best!

Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday dear me-eee!
After breakfast, Bethany and Jason seemed really busy. I thought the rest of the day might be kind of boring so I spent some time with Wilhelm and Brychwyn and my special  birthday chew.

Birthday chews are the best!
It turned out Bethany and Jason had the best birthday surprise planned for me. We all piled into the car and went somewhere I haven't been the whole time I was a one-year-old dog...

Birthday car rides are the best!
...the dog park! I ran and ran and ran. Did you know running is my very favorite thing to do?
Picture
Picture
All that running made me hungry so I was very happy to get two peanut butter birthday dog cookies when we got home. Lucky me!

On Monday, I had the pleasure of talking with several of our family members and friends who are veterans. I am so grateful to get to thank them for their service to our country. Thanks to our veteran readers too.

What a wonderful weekend for us Cascadian Nomads!
