It must be because I need the most fit dog time of all the Cascadian  Nomads that I was chosen to write our post for the first Fit Dog Friday Blog Hop. Now all of us need or fit time, obviously. And we all love it too. But I tend to be the one Blood on the Tracks Boy who is always ready to go. Rain or shine, I want to run! Lucky, lucky me, I do get to run. A lot. And I want to keep it that way.

I do agility twice a week with my nine-year-old friend Rose and sometimes with Bethany at our dog training school. Rose is my very special friend who can't have a dog right now so she gets to handle and care for me sometimes. I love her and her whole family. Oh, and I love agility. I went to my first class when I turned four months old! Hopefully I will be in my first trial this summer.
I go for long walks (8 or more miles) with my whole family, do interval walking/running with Bethany and go running with Jason. Until I am 18 months old, we can't run too far, but I love the wind in my fur! I run figure 8's in Bethany's mom's big yard in the suburbs and around and around in my little city yard. There is even room for fetch in my yard! I am quite good at fetch... and tug. Tug can be played with people or other dogs so it is one of my very favorite ways to exercise.

A couple of weeks ago, I got a Ruffwear Palisade Backpack! I absolutely love my backpack. Even shorter walks make me just a little more tired when I have my backpack on. Plus I get to be useful which is all any old-fashioned collie could ever hope for. I am not carrying much in my backpack now because I am still growing but someday I will carry supplies on long hikes and backpacking trips. That is the kind of goal a dog like me has got to stay in shape and be fit for.

There are SO many reasons for dogs to be in shape. What are your fit dog fitness goals?

Huxley, Nicely Done! You look like you are in great shape and you get to do so many fun things! I too am a runner - love to get that runner's high after a miles or so. Keep it up. Thanks for joining our Blog Hop!

Thank you, SlimDoggy! Sometimes the runners high gets me a bit crazy and I think I am invincible and can go faster than Jason or jump any height... but I'm still a pup. I definitely behave best on my leash while running!

Woof! Woof! LOVE agility class. I did it when I was a pup. What's your favorite I bet it's the tunnel. Happy FitDog Friday. Lots of Golden woofs, Sugar

We have a couple of goldens in our classes! I am such a tall collie that I have to crawl through the tunnels and I don't like 'em. The tunnels slow me down! I love jumping and I like the view from the a-frame and the dog walk. When I was younger I often stopped at the top of the a-frame to look around and sniff the breeze!

Wow you are quite an active, and beautiful, dog! I love all those activities that you do, and how you keep it interesting with running, tugging, and everything. I hope you join k9kamp later this month! Thanks for joining FitDog Friday!

Agility training looks fun! Luna is starting obedience training next week. Maybe after she masters the basics we can look into agility. She sure loves exercise! Right now we just take walks, go on jogs, and have play time in a fenced in yard.

Surprisingly, there are no beagles in our agility classes! I bet they'd be great at it, though. My beagle friends and I race through natural agility courses when running outside. I had to have a good sit/stay before I could start agility. But even though my obedience stay is quite solid, sometimes, in agility, I get so excited about running that I forget to stay.

Hi! We're visiting from the Blog Hop. We love agility too, competing for the last eight or so years. Young pup Rocco is in "pre-agility" training since he's still too young to jump and climb. Nice to meet you!

Wow! You are agility veterans! We are so, so new and we've only done classes, no competitions yet... I like the term "pre-agility." I am so big that people don't know I am a puppy or why I don't jump as high as some of the dogs smaller than me in class.

I love you, Rose. Thanks for working so hard to teach me agility (among other things) so I can be such a fit and happy dog. Every dog should be lucky enough to have a friend like you.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Wow - you do lots of fun stuff! It's so great to see other puppies staying active and healthy! I have a lot of friends who do agility too. I just do a lot of hiking and playing! (We tried agility but my momma says she's too uncoordinated.)

Yes, agility takes an agile handler too! I think that is one of the many reasons Rose runs courses with me the most.

I do do agility with Huxley because it gives me exercise and I know he does:). Also I love him!
