Jason and I have always been conscientious of using natural products for ourselves. Since the term "all natural" is a meaningless marketing phrase, we have learned that actual natural products are about the ingredients that are absent. We carefully study the ingredient labels and basically use only products with no synthetic chemicals, no preservatives and no metals. However I have always been skeptical when it comes to natural pet products. When it was just Bobbie, Emily, Gryphon (two gerbils and a tank of fish) and I in my college apartment, I used a natural flea repellent product specifically for cats. The fleas were not entirely controlled but what was worse is that it turned out one of the oils in the product was actually very bad for cats. So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I heard veterinarian Dr. Jean Hofve of Only Natural Pet say that she found an ingredient in one of the companies older products (Dr. Hofve has been with Only Natural Pet six of it's ten years and prior to that was a practicing holistic veterinarian) that recent studies have shown to be bad for cats. The company listened to her and removed the ingredient. This is why Dr. Hofve is proud to work for Only Natural Pet and the reason the canines and feline of the Cascadian Nomads will be joining the humans and psittacine in going green.
Dr. Hofve also shares my understanding that when you are sifting through the multitude of products that claim to be "all natural" it is more about what is not in the product than what is. There is no law or standard about what natural pet products, natural pet food, natural flea remedies or natural cat litter can contain. Only Natural Pet no synthetic chemicals, pesticides, allergens, chemical preservatives or any artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners in any of their food , treats, chews, supplements, homeopathic remedies, flea and tick solutions, litter and grooming products. They use ingredients that come from nature and haven't been manipulated. These are all the things Jason and I have always looked for in products for ourselves. Plus, with a holistic veterinarian like Dr. Hojve on staff at Only Natural Pet, their products are carefully formulated to be biologically appropriate for dogs and cats. So it seems that with shopping for Only Natural Pet at Pet360 we will finally be able to have the entire household using all natural pet products.

It is always good to find products that are safe and you don't have to worry about were they come from

So true! I will continue to be an obsessive label reader and ingredient researcher, but it is so nice to know there is a company with a vet on staff that does the same!

I love what you said about looking for the missing ingredients. I was contacted for a treat review and when I checked out the ingredients, I so disappointed, because another new treat company is selling subpar treats. It's all such a learning process, but exhausting. I'm glad that there are a growing number of brands who care :)

It is comforting to know that there are brands more interested in pet health than a healthy profit! Dr. Hojve also said she thinks it matters more what is NOT in items labeled "all natural" than what is on the ingredient list.
