Typist: Bethany Six years ago, Jason and I had no plans to get a second dog or, especially, a puppy. But when our friends got a pug puppy and asked us to puppy sit one evening we thought "this isn't so hard." Kiki the pug puppy played fetch with us, curled up on top of Jason and was a joy to be around. If we were ever going to get a second dog, Tynan would want a little one like Kiki. They were great friends! So we started to do some research and (*gulp*) look for a puppy. Our new pug puppy friends were more than happy to talk with Jason and I about all of the health issues facing pugs and why they chose Kiki. They also told us about all about pugs grooming requirements. Pet 360 shared a video about pugs in their September newsletter with a similar exhausting list of pug coat and skin care. No amount of fascination with the amazing history of the breed or wonderment at their easygoing dispositions could make Jason and I go back to considering a pug after we learned about all the grooming pug require. Our friends say they love the one on one time spent with Kiki while grooming and the routine of coat and skin care. Jason and I are definitely wash and wear types of dog people. In fact, we're wash and wear types of everything people. For our friends with two soon to be teen daughters, a low energy dog was a great idea. Walks with Kiki fit very well into their busy lives. A breed that wanted to and could go far, in any type of weather was a better fit into the active lifestyle of Jason, Tynan and I. So when Jason fell in love with a long-haired dapple dachshund at work, we knew for sure our new dog wasn't going to be a pug. Little did we know it was also not going to be as easy to have a puppy as we had believed that fateful evening of puppy sitting Kiki. Whether your a pug lover, a dachshund fan or you have recently spent some time with a friends perfect puppy, you will find all kinds of information about a variety of breeds in the Pet 360 Groups Community discussions. |
