While Bethany and Jason were in London they met this beautiful chocolate dachshund and I she and I are now "betrothed." I don't know exactly what that means but hope that it means she and I get to run and play together. Any dog who so eloquently sniffs the "rubbish bin" (which is how to say "trash can" in England) at the bus stop must be a lot of fun. And I have heard that in her city the children's part of the park is fenced but the dogs get to just run and play! Maybe I'll get to visit such paradise soon. I bet my "fiancée," as Bethany calls her, and I will be the best of friends. Wait. Is she English or French? Well, she sure is cute.

Typist: Bethany Not only is keeping my pets at a healthy weight important to me but preventative care vet visits are a must. An annual vet visit can help to keep the pets weight monitored. Also knowing that I have done my best for dog care and cat care gives me the peace of mind I need for all of the travel and activities my pets and I do together. Whether my healthy pets and I hike the entire 13 miles of the South Rim trail at the Grand Canyon or we wander six miles through our neighborhood on a dog friendly pub crawl, I want to know that they are safe and sound every step of the way. Healthy dog food and healthy cat food are a huge part of the journey that we all take with our pets every day but consistent vet check ups can make a huge difference in your pets life long health and happiness. It's not always easy to budget for seeing a veterinarian when your pet seems perfectly healthy but according to the American Pet Products Association National Pet Owner Survey for 2013-14 it costs more to wait to visit the vet when your pet is ill.
Now you know what comfort I find in having the dogs and cats be up to date on their annual vet check-ups but what about the pets? If there were an emergency, they are comfortable with their vet and at our vets office. And if we are traveling, it is easy for me to just hand the up to date vet records over to whatever vet we happen to be seeing, and for that doctor to do their best for my pet. So the importance of preventive care vet visits comes down to peace of mind for me and for my pets as well. That's a great way for everyone to get healthy and happy.
Typist: Bethany When my alarm went off early last week, a wave of panic came over me about the dogs and cat all having veterinary wellness exam appointments that morning. Then I remembered that this was a stress free home visit with Seattle's Dr. Brian Hur from Vet Pronto mobile veterinary services. The panic faded. Wait. I wondered if I should vacuum or tidy up. No time. I did not wear my pajamas. I did wear my slippers. All three dogs and the cat got thorough veterinary wellness exams while I was comfortably in my slippers. Do you need more of a rave review than that? Okay. I'll tell you more. Most importantly, you should know that Amelia, Wilhelm, Brychwyn and Huxley actually enjoyed their vet check-ups. Yes. You read that correctly. The pets enjoyed being poked and prodded by a stranger. First, this is probably because Dr. Hur was very gentle and kind. Even Leo was charmed by him. Amelia volunteered to be examined first and she later returned to Dr. Hur's lap. The second reason for the ease of our recent dog and cat veterinary wellness exams was because the pets didn't seem to know it was a vet visit. They just hung out at home on the couch. The doctor was comfortably barefoot and I was happily in my slippers. Everything about my experience with Vet Pronto was stress free. I made an appointment over the phone but the on-line process is very user friendly. I received an immediate e-mail confirmation of my appointment. Dr. Hur also called to confirm, was prompt and professional. He even complimented the cleanliness of a house with so many pets. I wonder what he'd have thought if I'd had time to vacuum? No matter. It was a pleasure to have him over. And best of all, Amelia, Wilhelm, Brychwyn and Huxley agreed. All four pets got the most thorough exams they have ever had. None of them struggled to get away or cowered under a chair. It was so comfortable and relaxed for all of us, pets and humans. While examining Brychwyn, Dr. Hur observed the blue-eyed corgi's expression and guessed aloud that Brychwyn was thinking "this is sort of like a vet exam, except I'm at home on my couch." That is indeed what it looked like Brychwyn was pondering. Brychwyn tends to be quite leery of strangers touching him, especially his legs and feet. But because of Brychwyn's perpetual limp, it is important for his joints to be carefully examined during his wellness check-ups. Dr. Hur had a great opportunity for an in-depth exam with Brychwyn as the corgi lounged comfortably on the couch. All is well with the four fur pets of the Cascadian Nomads. Vet Pronto sent a discharge e-mail with the details of what Dr. Hur and I had discussed just hours after our appointment ended. In reflecting upon the fantastic experience I had with Vet Pronto, I wish that a service like theirs had been around decades ago. When I had two senior cats, one with a stress induced heart murmur, and a middle aged dog battling cancer, such pleasant and stress free veterinary care would have been exactly what the doctor ordered. (Pun very much intended.) Not only would my aging cats and ill dog have appreciated the relaxed vet exams, I definitely needed all the comfortable slipper time I could get. Wait. I always need that. I am so glad I have found Vet Pronto. Cascadian Nomads received complimentary wellness exams from Vet Pronto in exchange for our honest review. We were not otherwise compensated for this post.
