A to Z Challenge Ideas and Support for Pet Bloggers Including A Preparation Blog Hop

How much blogging in April?
Typist: Bethany
Six weeks ago, I read a post on Me, You and Zu about how much fun the A to Z Challenge in April could be . Ruby was so inspiring and convincing, I e-mailed her right away. I told her that I would sign up for the challenge and work with her to brainstorm ideas for recruiting more pet bloggers to join April's 26 day blogging challenge. As Ruby and I pooled A to Z Challenge post ideas and signed up for the challenge, we saw a few other pet bloggers on the list. But not many. The organizers don't even have a pet blog category code. So in an effort to encourage more pet bloggers to do the A to Z Challenge in April as well as to share post ideas and support each other once the challenge begins, we have started a March A to Z Challenge Pet Blogger preparation blog hop. This blog hop will also help pet blog readers follow all their favorite pet bloggers during the A to Z Challenge and even find new pet blogs to read in April.
So if you are a pet blogger participating in the 2014 A to Z Challenge, we hope you will link up either your main blog URL, so other bloggers and readers can follow your progress, or (even better) a post sharing A to Z Challenge post ideas as well as encouraging other pet bloggers to join in the fun! Now without further ado, here are some ideas that I wanted to share with you either to encourage you to sign up for the A to Z Challenge or maybe to help you with a post for a letter that stumps you:
  • Share stories, photos or videos of your History with pets and from your past.
  • Depending on the voice you write in, post about other pets you know or people you know with pets. You can even Interview* them!
  • Expand on a description that you or someone else would or has used about you or your pet- Awesome? Nice? Zany?
  • What words does your pet know? These could be tricks taught on purpose like "Bow," "Over" or "Yawn" or often overheard words your pet has inadvertently learned like "Don't,"Move" or Whoa.
  • How many places have you and your pet have been together- Canada? The Groomers? The Pub? Xenia, Ohio?
  • Does your pet have any health issues you could write about like Ear Infections or Kidney problems? Are you plagued by too much Fur?
  • Could you write about any Quirky behavior issues your pet has? Does your pet have a Jumping problem or is your pet afraid of Umbrellas?
  • Depending on the voice you write in, post about why you Love your pet or why they love you. Maybe the love you share is because of time memorable spent with Kids or some Turmoil you went through together.
  • Do you have any favorite pet products to write about- a Velvet pet bed? Special treats? stylish Rain coat?
*Since there may be a lot of days that you could easily cover in April's A to Z Challenge with a fun interview, Me, You and Zu's Ruby and I came up with a list of questions that could be answered by a human or an animal:
  1. What's the most embarrassing thing you've done with your pet/human?
  2. Besides blogging, what are your hobbies?
  3. How long have you been blogging?
  4. How long have you been doing any of your other hobbies?
  5. If you were to write the story of your life, what would you title it?
  6. If you could have one wish (and it actually came true) what would it be?
  7. What is your favorite place in the whole world (this can be a fantasy place you may love only from photos or descriptions)?
  8. What is you favorite place close to home (this is somewhere you have been and could conceivably go to right now)?
  9. What is a perfect Sunday morning like for you?
  10. What is your favorite thing to eat?
  11. What's your theme song?
  12. If you could sit down to dinner with any living celebrity or public figure, who would it be?
  13. If you could sit down to dinner with any no longer living celebrity or public figure, who would it be?
  14. What is your favorite beverage?
  15. If you had to choose between only books or only TV which would you chose or want your human to choose?
  16. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
  17. What is your best trick? (Humans can answer this one too!)
  18. Do you have or have you had any nicknames?
  19. What is the first thing you notice when you meet someone new?
  20. What is your least favorite mode of transportation?

A to Z blog posts? After 'A,' I'll be in here.

I can sing the alphabet but why blog it?
How's that for a lot of ideas to help with creating 26 posts in April? And if you draft the posts early, it won't be hard to keep up! Do you have any ideas to share or add? If you're a pet blogger, link up your helpful post. And we'd definitely appreciate advice from readers too. Please leave a comment!

We really have to do this now, don't we?

This sounds fun!! So if we want to participate do we need to email someone and then come up with a list of A-Z categories? Boy ... this would get my brain thinking ... LOL!!

It's easier than that: just sign up here http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/p/a-to-z-challenge-sign-uplist-2014.html and post every day in April except Sunday, from A to Z. You can join our March hop with a list of ideas or just your blog URL so other pet bloggers and readers can follow you from a to z!

Actually, my most creative juices have been flowing in trying to figure out how to compose my committed posts for the month to fit with the days letter- it's going to be interesting and, yes, FUN!

I'm interested! A few of the topics I use for my #ThrowbackThursday blog hop, which I would love to have you join, but there are some great topics there and I'll try to have a post up soon! Thanks!

Yay Dolly! And you're right, some topics would be awesome on #ThrowbackThursday. My list for the month (so far) has letters I am trying to fit into blog hops I don't want to miss or sponsored posts I have to do- it's truly a creative challenge and great fun. I should put your hop on my calendar (and join in sooner than April!)

Sounds like fun, but it would be super hard for me to commit to write every single day. I saw this challenge last year though. Hmmmm

The nice thing is that you don't have to write each day- a photo or video counts as a post (as you know! We pet bloggers are best at those- I NEVER grow weary of seeing photos of everyone's adorable pets!) I already have your first photo post idea - 'A' for Arizona!!! :)

This looks interesting and I don't think I've seen it before. Like some of the other people who commented, I don't think I could join =( This would be something fun to do on Instagram or something though.

Thanks so much for the invitation, Bethany! Yes, I'm in--just added my blog to the linky list, and my idea post will be up soon, but it can be reduced to a few words: join the A-Z Theme Reveal hop on March 21 :) Great way to build up expectation, and with all the great advice you guys are sharing, I'm sure our themes will be fantastic.

I'm very much looking forward to getting to know you all!

I did hear about that other hop-within-a-hop for the A to Z Challenge and I ave njoyed seeing some bloggers reveal their themes. The thing about a pet blog is we sort of already have a theme... Pets! Maybe next year I can get creative enough to go further.

Thank you sooo much for this post! I was toying with the idea of joining the April challenge, but it seemed so daunting and overwhelming. I had no clue how I could come up with some posts for some of the letters. This post gave me TONS of inspiration. I'm pretty sure I will be joining the challenge, so thank you! :)

What a brilliant idea! We've just joined the challenge today and after reading this post have also posted about it on our blog, along with our ideas and of course, jumped on the blog hop! We might use your interview questions at some point in the challenge as well as we really like those!

See you for the April challenge!
