Gryphon gave us quite a scare this past week; he got very weak and tired. We thought he was nearing the end of his life but it turned out he just needed some fluids to get re-hydrated. So Gryphon will be getting subcutaneous fluids each day and we have also begun infrared therapy to make him comfortable and maybe more mobile. Thanks to everyone who sent us well wishes during this stressful time and thanks for understanding why we haven't been around much. We'll get used to these new treatments and routine changes and be back to visiting all our favorite blogs as well as sharing our adventures with you soon!

Yes. I have done them twice now. Once at the vet with the nurse helping yesterday and once at home today. It is supposedly going to get easier...

Thanks, Molly. He has had his purr back since getting hydrated and warm- there's nothing cozier than a purring Gryphon!

Thank you. When the vet told us about the infrared therapy, he made it sound as if some pets don't hold still for it. Jason and I laughed and laughed at the idea of Gryphon trying to wiggle away from a heat lamp! He loves it, of course.

I'm glad he's doing better. Just out of curiosity, have you tried the pet water fountain things? I got one for our animals (holds two gallons and has a replaceable activated charcoal filter) and they all love it. My husband was shocked when he saw our cats increase they're drinking frequency and amount, and of course our dogs love it as well... Chloe especially, she drops her toys in it and then proceeds to bob for them.

I have always wanted one and the charcoal filter is a great touch (although all our pets only drink bottled spring water.) Gryphon drinks and drinks and drinks and has since a pretty young age (he survived being hit by a car but the trauma damaged his kidneys) but Amelia could use the boost in water consumption and I know the dogs would love it- I had to put my decorative fountain on a table to keep them out of it!

Thanks, Oz! I'm surprised you noticed since dogs aren't supposed to be able to see red very well. ;)

Thank you and I am glad you noticed the eerie lighting, SlimDoggy! I originally intended to come up with a title to express a bit of the pre-Halloween spookiness in these infrared lit shots but I have been too stressed and sleep deprived!

So glad the Gryphon is doing better. My next-door neighbor has to hydrate her cat with fluids every 2-3 days. Said that is definitely gets easier after the first couple of times, so hang in there.

I meant to send my best wishes to Gryphon when I saw on FB how he wasn't doing well but somehow it didn't happen. Then I missed this but I'm so glad he's improved and you can help him. He looks like he's quite enjoying his treatment. It will be a huge relief to you!
