The dramatic mischief of the lion and lamb March weather in Cascadia.

Typist: Bethany
When I was a child, I used to draw on my March calendar. I doodled a lion for stormy days and a lamb for mild days. Since March has an uneven number of days, there was always one more lion or lamb. But consistently only one! So I became a firm believer in the "in like a lion, out like a lamb" (or vice versa) saying. I no longer scribble lions or lambs on my calendars (though as I type this, I am thinking that I should) but I do revel in the unrestrained and wonderful weather March can bring. This months wildly oscillating weather here in Cascadia is a perfect example of the crazy fun (and sometimes not so amusing) weather that the end of winter and start of spring can bring.

Huxley doesn't understand why everyone says lions are big and scary.
This March, on days like a lamb, Wilhelm, Huxley, Brychwyn, Amelia, Leo and I have all gotten out for walks. Some days I had no need for a coat and one day I got to wear only a t-shirt. Woo-hoo! On days like a lion, the dogs and I got caught in a hail storm as well as so much rain that we were all wet for hours after returning home. The March wind was wild and Leo wasn't sure about it blowing his feathers when we went out to enjoy an early spring sunset. But the dramatic skies that the wind brought were spectacular. It has been an entertaining and also beautiful month of lambs and lions. And I wouldn't trade a second of it!

Tomorrow we celebrate April Fool's Day with our one year anniversary on this blog and the beginning of The Blogging From A to Z April Challenge (no fooling!) We hope you'll join us.

Did March come in like a lion and out like a lamb in your area? Or the other way around? What kind of mischief did the lion and lamb days of March cause for you?

I don't know what the heck March was here. Mother Nature seems confused lol. Our weather changes so frequently, it's just annoying. And the wind lately has been driving me crazy too!

The wind can be fun- splashing waves and blowing leaves or flower petals. But not sideways rain or falling tree branches!

Gosh your weather has been up and down. We think it is enough now and we so hope you have wonderful Spring weather from now on. Paws crossed. Have a marvellous Monday.
Best wishes Molly

Today has definitely been the kind of gorgeous spring weather I like- partly cloudy, cool and shaping up for a spectacular sunset!

March is probably the worst month of the year in our opinion. It is real grey, snow melts and becomes ugly, we tend to get lots of heavy wet new snow that just makes a mess, it is just not a nice month. We are looking forward to April!

We are so lucky that when the snow melts here (in the mountains) it reveals skunk cabbage and trillium bursting from the ground and the blossoms on the rhododendrons.

March was a crazy weather month! I would say that it came in like a Lion and out like Lamb as today will be very nice and spring like, but yesterday we had a few inches of snow!! I think next year I need to draw on the month of March as well for the days like a Lion/Lamb or at least write it out. I'm ready to consistently nice weather now!

I thinking keeping track of the lion and lamb days helps with that "aw, more rain/snow" feeling. There's always SOME sunshine, we just forget so quickly when we are ready for A LOT of sunshine!

we are beginning to think we are just going to skip spring entirely and wake up one morning and it will be hot and summer. Leo is looking beautiful all rufled

Our days have been just the same. Not very warm though. Yesterday was wind, rain, hail, maybe even snow. Come on spring!

Great photos! I'm especially a fan of the top two!
In retrospect, it feels like all of March has been lion-esque, but I'm sure that's not the case. Just the past week or so has made us forget any spring-like days we may have had earlier. Hopefully April will be less snowy!

Congratulations on your anniversary and good luck with the challenge. Love the idea of the March calendar with lambs and lions. I'm from upstate New York so it would have been a lot of lions I'm afraid. Now that we live in SoCal...it's all lambs :)

Such a great way to look at March! Our March has mostly been a lion this year...but it looks like it is going to leave as a lamb which I hope is a good sign!

I think we had only 1 lamb day this March. They rest were all lion.

What a beautiful place to walk! Our March/April weather is usually our scariest. We get violent storms (lions) and gorgeous days (lamb) and sometimes both on the same day. I love your cockatoo

Glad to drop by via the bloghop... We luv Huxley's photo. Anyway here in the tropics, our March came in like a lamb (26 degrees C with cool North winds) and ended like a lion (33 degrees C and climbing). x0x0x Vanilla Bean

p.s. Congratulations on your blog anniversary!

Oh, all that very green grass you have! I knew spring was almost here when we had a tornado warning a couple of evenings ago :-) Green grass and balmy days couldn't be far off when Mother Nature decides to send twisters our way!

I'm kinda like Leo cos I don't like getting my fur ruffled by the wind!

What animal represents sun? We'd have lots of them on calendar as we're super lucky with the weather in California! :)

Hope you're having a fun day

Your pal Snoopy :)
