Qualms about going green are understandable. No one expects habits or lifestyles to change overnight. Jason and I recently committed to switching to all natural flea repellent for our dogs, Wilhelm. Brychwyn and Huxley, and our cat, Amelia. We know it won't be an easy switch but for a family that enjoys the outdoors as much as we do, it makes so much sense for us to use natural pet products. When we Cascadian Nomads are off on adventures, road trips, hiking or camping, clean air and water mean everything to us. Of course, the long-term health of our pets is paramount as well. Since Only Natural Pet was founded on the belief that a natural lifestyle contributes to longer and healthier lives for our pets and Pet360 carries their complete line of natural pet supplies formulated by a holistic veterinarian to be biologically appropriate for cats and dogs, Jason and I know that we are doing the right thing for the environment and for our pets by going #PawNatural.

Jason and I have made and stuck to a lot of commitments to live a greener lifestyle over the years. Obviously, we compost and recycle. One of the most important things we do is to be very careful where we spend our money. We buy as local as possible. We research the companies we buy from. We buy organic whenever we can.

A seemingly simple thing Jason and I work at in going green is to not buy any products with PVC (PolyVinyl Chloride.)  Vinyl chloride in drinking water, from factories producing PVC and from PVC pipes, is one of the most serious threats to our planets water supply. Obviously this affects our health, our pets well-being, and all life on Earth's vitality. PVC products also off-gas dangerous chemicals into the air of our home and environment. A lot of very convenient products contain PVC and those products are also not always labeled as containing dangerous chemicals. But with some creative shopping, we have avoided PVC for quite sometime.

None of the green lifestyle choices Jason and I have made have been rapid or easy. But they have all benefited not only our own health but the health of our pets and the planet. It means a lot to us when companies like Only Natural Pet commit to going green but we also know that every little bit, each and every on of us does can make a difference. So we ask you, what have you done lately to improve the health of yourself, your pets and the planet? Is there something new you have wanted to try? Join us in going #PawNatural! Share your ideas, success and even failures in going green. We can all learn and be inspired by one another and we can make a difference for our pets and the planet too.
Toxins in the air and water means that all of our immune systems are taxed! But while we work together, one step at a time to clean up the Earth, caring humans can provide immune support for their cats and dogs:

That got us thinking. Maybe we can make more of an effort to be greener. We do shop locally but we should spend more time looking into what we buy. Have a super Saturday.
Best wishes Molly

Thinking about what you can do to be more green is definitely an excellent first step.

We've been trying to just be a lot more conscious about what we give the dogs and ourselves. Finding flea and tick prevention that works without all the chemicals is a high priority for us!

Thank you for your comment. What I have been being told more and more is that you have to find the right combo of natural flea repellents that work for each individual pet. Boosting our pets immune systems is important in repelling pests and parasites too. It's definitely going to be more work than just tossing on the weight and species appropriate chemicals but I am ready for the challenge!

This is a great initiative! Evangers Pet Foods has been trying to get the word out on reducing your carbon "paw-print." 90% of our ingredients are sourced daily within 50 miles of our plant, and we pick them up on our own trucks! We want to be part of the challenge to go green with you!

"Reducing your carbon 'paw-print!'" BOL! I love it. The world will be a better place for all of us- humans and animals- with so many people and companies striving to go green.

Hey I switched to all natural flea treatment this month too ;) Likely the same one as you. It's working good so far I think!

I am surprised you didn't already use natural flea repellent, Ann. I wouldn't have been brave enough to do this switch if it hadn't been for your article about the effectiveness of neem oil. But I am glad we are both doing what's best for our pets health and the Earth!
