How Life With Five Pets Causes A Quizzical Face To Freeze That Way {52 Snapshots of Life Week 16}

The dogs, cat and cockatoo are constantly doing something that we humans don't truly understand and being bemused is part of the charm of life with pets. While discussing what photos would be fun for this weeks photo challenge, Jason mentioned all of the quizzical faces we humans make as the pets live their strange and amusing lives with us. As I spent the week capturing curious moments with the pets and an occasional reaction from Jason or I, something both terrible and wonderful happened. My mother was right when she said "if you keep making that face it will freeze that way." Spending my entire life starring at, laughing at and wondering about what my pets are doing has caused a permanent quizzical look on my face. So, a face that has witnessed a mass of oddness, is just my face. All of the time. In an effort to share my constant puzzled look, here are just a few of the reasons my face is frozen with a permanent quizzical appearance. Be warned that the any facial expression when gazing at these candid pet photos may freeze that way.
Triton cockatoo Leo
This is how Leo was found upon uncovering his cage a few days ago. He even wore his new box from his sleeping cage, down the hall, to the shower. It was removed before the water was turned on, much to Leo's disappointment.
Cat Amelia and triton cockatoo Leo share a parrot play tree
Yes, that's cat Amelia on the parrot play tree.
Tabby cat Amelia watches the world from the safety of her cat tree
Yes, she has her own play tree.

Have your pets caused your face to freeze with a certain look?
If you have any idea what is going on in any of the above photos, please let me know in the comments!

My favorite part is that furry little foot sticking out behind the pillow... what a nutty doxie!

Your comment makes ME so happy, Connie. Thank you. Everyday is indeed an amazing adventure around here. I remember back to when I couldn't have a dog, I borrowed friends dogs, volunteered at the shelter and lived vicariously through everyone with dogs I met. I am glad to now be able to give a little back!

HA! These photos are great - especially the one of Leo with the box on his head. My husband and I are always laughing and giving our cats (and each other) strange looks. Life with pets, especially multiple ones, is pretty darn amusing and full of weird moments!

Leo, you totally CRACK US UP!! And we're going with "derp-face" on that last one (*snicker*) - not that we ever EVER would have one of those face freezes, nope, not us (uh, didja see Maxie's latest on Instagram? Uh yeah, no one derps like a dog or cat - or in Leo's case, a cockatoo!)

I love the photo of Leo wearing his box on his head!
I think cats balance in awkward places just to prove they're superior - my cats always look very smug when they do it.
