I wholeheartedly dislike grocery shopping but I try my best to be grateful for the ability to shop as well as the abundance of food purchasing options I have. The ability to purchase absolutely everything on my grocery list with a USDA Organic Certification is definitely one thing I am very thankful for. I am proud when cooking entirely organic dishes or serving all organic meals. It delights me to provide my pets with organic food too. Fortunately, I recently learned I can purchase organic dog food and organic cat food at the same stores where I buy organic human food. Convenience is exactly what someone who doesn't like to waste time shopping needs. I am always glad to get the shopping over with quickly and move on to more outstanding pet-friendly adventures.
Shopping gets done faster with a list and a complete grocery list is especially important during the holidays when I purchase grocery items I don't regularly buy. Just one whirl around my near-by Whole Foods Market yesterday, and I got everything on my list including organic food and treats for the dogs and cat. The store's commitment to selling healthy human food extends to offering high quality canine nutrition and superior foods for cats as well. It had never before occurred to me that I could do my pet food shopping at the same time as I shopped for groceries. Here I am, the queen of shop-as-fast-as-possible, and I have been running an extra errand all these years. Speedy shopping doesn't mean I sacrifice quality, though. I always take the time to make sure I the fresh fruits and vegetables I put in the cart are organic and as close to local as possible. I turn over every can, box and carton to check the ingredients not just for human food but for the pet's food too. I took my time in the pet food aisle at Whole Foods yesterday, and I picked some wonderful Castor & Pollux Organix food and treats for Wilhelm, Brychwyn, Huxley and Amelia. The USDA and Oregon Tilth certified organic ingredients list on each Organix bag and can plus the fact that the products are made with love in the US made are exactly the things I look for when reading labels in the store. The number one ingredient in Organix Dog Food is organic, free-range chicken and the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber come from natural sources like organic brown rice and fresh organic fruit and vegetable purées. I was truly grateful for this organic pet food bounty. The best part of this shopping trip was that the dogs were also thankful for the Organix food that I purchased. Wilhelm enjoyed the smell of the grocery bag while it was still in the cart. Brychwyn was a little worried that Wilhelm would get into trouble for sniffing a little more closely once the bag was in the car. Instead, I laughed and let Wilhelm pick which bag of treats we opened right there in the parking lot. He chose the Jerky Chip Oatmeal and Salmon Cookies although I am willing to guess he, as well as Brychwyn and Huxley, are thankful for all of the Organix purchases I made. I know I am. I so appreciate any amount of food I am lucky enough to purchase and eat. |
