Leo says a couple hundred words. "I love you" were among his first. He says "Hello," Goodbye," "Good night," "Sorry, "Okay" and "How are you?" Some nouns are "Doggy," "Daddy," "Mommy," "Kitty" and "Neighbor." A few of his favorite adjectives are "good," "big" and "regular." He sings too- "Itsy-Bitsy Spider," "Twinkle-Twinkle" and the Barney song, among others. I loved Alex- he was how we discovered parrots aren't imitating but actually learn our language (the only species on the planet capable of learning another species language.) African Grays, like Alex was, are capable of around 8-year-old human thinking. Cockatoos are perpetual 2-year-olds.

Thank you. Leo asks for a "big hug" and snuggles in. He makes a lot of kissy noises too. Cockatoos are very cuddly psittacines.

Thanks so much for hopping by, Mel. Huxley is a collie (but he was pretty small still in that snuggly picture!) I was always afraid I couldn't handle a herding dog. Many of my dog friends questioned me when I picked the corgi and the collie but I love, love them too and will never go back! Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
