Awesome #MultiPetMania Moments Made Possible By The Umbilical Belt Hands Free Dog Leash

Typist: Bethany
Anyone who has ever read this blog before (and it is okay if you haven't- welcome!) or has met me while out on a pet adventure knows that I am a huge fan of hands free dog walking. In fact, I would go so far as to call myself a hands free dog leash addict. I never, ever go anywhere without my Umbilical Belt Hands Free Dog Leash. Ever. When I set out to find the best hands free dog leash, I put on The Umbilical Belt and never looked back. And after almost two years of wearing my first Umbilical Belt at least once a day, every day, it was time for a new one. Just like any well used and loved product, even the best made, highest quality hands free dog leash on the market is susceptible to wearing out. My 3" wide Umbilical Belt had never been uncomfortable but I opted for a new 2" wide belt. After a short adjustment period to get used to the thinner belt I love it. I expected to. All of The Umbilical Belt products are the same comfortable, strong, plastic free, high quality dog leashes and hands free belts I fell in love with over two years ago. The Umbilical Belt is made by a dog fitness enthusiasts for dog fitness enthusiasts. What's not to love? This is why I can't imagine a dog friendly hike, walk, snowshoe or other adventure without The Umbilical Belt.
I've got to be hands free with The Umbilcal Belt Hands Free Dog Leash
The Umbilical Belt Hands Free Belt and The Umbilical Belt Reflective Dog Leash.
Besides comfort and convenience, why be hands free? Wait. Seriously? Okay, I'll lay it out:
  • Back support: My lumbar vertebrae were all fractured by a fall in 2011. Nothing I have put around my waist since then has been as comfortable as The Umbilical Belt. I wish it could hold up my pants!
  • Style: Any leash can be attached to The Umbilical Belt. I regularly attach my bungee leashes to my belt, The Umbilical Belt Reflective Leash for night walks and I attach my favorite collar matching leashes or holiday leashes for special occasions.
  • Hands Free: Oh the things free hands can do! Not holding a leash takes getting used to for both the dog and the dog walker but once hands free harmony is acquired the dog walker can hold a drink, push a stroller, swing their arms, click a clicker, clean up poop, carry a cockatoo... that last one may just be me.

The Umbilical Belt Dog Leash 2", M, includes a Reflective Leash.
If preparing to carry a cockatoo on dog walks or just a cup of coffee, The Umbilical Belt hands free leash will not disappoint. Not only would it be impossible for me to walk multiple pets without a hands free waist belt for dog leashes, I would not enjoy our walks or any of our pet friendly adventures nearly as much. After almost a decade of struggling to find a hands free leash belt that would allow me more dog time and less fussing with the belt and leash time, I couldn't be happier to have found The Umbilical Belt. I am proud to be using my second Umbilical Belt and to be able to share how well it works with everyone I see every time I step out the door.

The Umbilical Belt creator, John, told me how fun it is at trade shows when he urges skeptical people to "just try it." The people who are most stubborn that a hands free leash could never be for them are the people who fall in love with being hands free the fastest. I am really excited for you to feel the correct size belt back support and enjoy swinging your arms on a run. You're going to LOVE it!

I think you were the first one that got me interested in hands free! But I didn't want to spend the money on another dog tool that I wasn't sure I would use. So I am so grateful that we got this opportunity to try the Umbilical Belt, because now I'm hooked...and I think I will actually jog more now because of it.
How do you attach a regular leash to it? I thought I would probably have to buy another leash from them to be able to walk multiple dogs (when I get brave enough to try it!).

I will put a picture up on Facebook of how to attach a regular leash to The Umbilical Belt later this week, Jan, but all you need is a clip/carabiner. I first went hands free to get better exercise when jogging/race walking with one dog. And even with three or four dogs, I still get a better workout on pet friendly outings than I would without The Umbilical Belt. I am very to have helped make you a hands free jogger!

Siriusly? You really walk four dogs at once? I'm in awe and bow down to your greatness. I know for sure one or both of my dogs would pull me right over!

You'd actually be surprised how much stronger your waist is than your shoulders and how quickly pulling decreases when attempts to pull at a less moveable object (a waist) as opposed to an arm. I also find myself more able to focus on the dogs reactivity signals, hence preventing a reaction that would land me on my a**, when I am not fumbling with holding a leash.

You've sold me on The Umbilical Belt. Just saving my shoulders would be wonderful, having free hands would be the cherry on top!

You will love it Leah! It is so nice to look around, take photos and just enjoy the walk when hands free.

I'm a little worried about getting pulled over.

A legitimate fear but in the twelve plus years I have been dog walking hands free, I have been pulled over less times than I did with regular leashes in my hands! Plus the falls weren't as bad. You'd be really surprised how much sturdier the feeling of being pulled in the center of your body is as opposed the top.
