In just one average day, I often take hundreds of photos of adorable dachshund Wilhelm, handsome corgi Brychwyn, majestic collie Huxley, photogenic cat Amelia and theatrical cockatoo Leo. It is a massive task to peruse through all those pet photos and decide what to keep, delete, post, etc. Readers and followers have asked for years to see outtakes of photo shoots with the pets and I have wanted to share some silly photographs that didn't quite make the cut. This weeks foolish themed photo challenge seemed like the perfect opportunity to show off some wacky outtakes of the pets. It is fun for a photographer to reveal a bit about her process. Except this is a pet photographer who didn't take very many pictures this week. Unbelievable, I know, but it's true. It is really embarrassing for me to admit but I had a whopping two foolish outtakes from the one photo shoot I did with the dogs this week. I plan to share those pictures on Facebook in the coming days but as I came to the realization that I had nothing for this weeks photo challenge, the phrase "ship of fools" came into my head. So yesterday this foolish photographer with no foolish photographs, a vessel without a plot, took her dogs to a park in our neighborhood for a photo shoot on a ship. I am so glad that dogs don't judge... and that they are so, super cute.

Thank you, Molly. Perhaps they'll get good at sailing and come across the pond to help you with your tree rat problem.

I was thinking it looked like Noah's Ark rather than a ship of fools, but it's perfect for this week's theme nonetheless.

It's funny you should say that because a few years back when I had two dogs, two cats, two birds, two rats and two fish as pets, I was referred to as Noah's Ark quite often.

These weren't the outtakes. This was all I got. I will share the outtakes from our other photo shoot this week on Facebook. Fortunately, the cat was not involved in any photo taking this week... those outtakes are always too blurry to share anyways! Crazy cat.

I think all those shots are great, I wouldn't consider them outtakes.:)

Thank you Ellen. These were the only shots I got on the boat, no outtakes. I guess I should be glad the dogs are so great at posing but I am not sure i am happy that the foolishness is all me! I will be sharing the two funny outtakes from a different photo shoot on Facebook.

Very cute photos of some very cute dogs! It is difficult to get good photos of pets. Unless she is really caught up in the moment, my golden retriever Savanna tends to be camera shy.

My dogs like their job of posing for photos. It seems they have gotten too good at it since we hardly ever have hilarious outtakes anymore. That and sometimes I want to just enjoy time with them without constantly snapping photos. This week was just one of those weeks!

Whoa! I thought they were on a real boat and didn’t think it looked foolish at all! I have a feature called Foto Frenzy where I show outtakes. I let readers pick which ones they want to see.
