Last week we received a comment from someone about the beautiful "ORGANIC" photo we took with Ginger's Treats that said it looked to them like the dogs didn't "want to touch the stuff." As far as I can tell, this person is someone who does not even slightly understand dogs or dog training but I thought we probably should let you know what we really think of Ginger's Treats for dogs. There were also a few people who entered our Ginger's Treats giveaway that told us they intend to buy some treats even if they don't win. Hopefully this review of all five flavors of Ginger's Treats will be helpful to you if you are shopping for organic dog treats. And maybe, just maybe, the person who thought that our very well trained Wilhelm, Brychwyn and Huxley, so patiently maintaining their "stay" in order to get even just a few bites of the delicious, organic smorgasbord laid out in front of them, will learn a little something about the use of high value treats and jackpot rewards in dog training.
Autumn Crisps These round Ginger's Treats smell delicious to human noses but I promise I have not tried one. The dogs wouldn't like me trying their treats! Autumn Crisps are indeed quite crisp. These treats do not break apart. The dogs need to chew them so they are a good long lasting treat. I use these treats while we are waiting at crosswalks, as rewards for going to crates and on drive plates. I would recommend Autumn Crisps for dogs who use their noses to determine what they will eat. I would not recommend Autumn Crisps for dogs watching their weight because it is all are nothing with these hard cookies. |
Barkin' Brittle These square Ginger's Treats are a favorite of Cascadian Nomads humans and canines. I like that they break up very small for training and sharing. Barkin' Brittle's healthy, organic ingredients like applesauce, bananas and blueberries make me proud to dole them out to all three dogs for every good behavior. Interestingly enough, Wilhelm, Brychwyn and Huxley are also huge fans of applesauce, bananas and blueberries. There is also peanut butter in Barkin' Brittle but our three never seemed to be quite as peanut butter crazed as other dogs we know. Trying out Ginger' Treats, though, has made me believe that 'R' Blood On The Tracks Boys do hold at least some sort of fondness for the nutty spread. Apparently my dogs will enjoy peanut butter as long as it is baked into a scrumptious, organic dog cookie! |
Jack O' Gingers As I read the sentence about recommending Bulldog Bites aloud, three very grouchy, furry faced stared at me. So I suddenly feel the need to tell you that while Bulldog Bites would be my recommended flavor, Jack O' Gingers would be what Wilhelm, Brychwyn and Huxley most recommend you give to your dog. And it isn't just the awkward canine stares that make me believe that. It's that with all of the Ginger's Treats photo shoots I have done, including ones with the treats in the bags, once the dogs were released from their "stay" they most often went for the |
Dark from roasted carob powder, I chose not to use these treats in our "ORGANIC" photo because I thought they would be camouflaged on the ground. I didn't know that Jason and I were going to be brave enough to spell out the word on the path! Anyways, I only just opened the bag of Sweet Potato Crunchers treats for the first time yesterday. And my first impression was similar to what I think of the Autumn Crisps; yum! Sweet Potato Crunchers smell wonderful. These hard, round treats also do not break apart. The dogs really enjoyed them, See for yourselves: |

This is our very first Tasty Tuesday blog hop! It's not that we don't love tasty good food (as evidenced above) but it's mostly that Bethany and Jason are more the order out types than the cook at home kind. And we have never had commercially made treats we were so passionate about sharing until we tried certified organic Ginger's Treats! Thanks to Tasty Tuesday's hosts, Sugar The Golden Retriever and Kol's Notes, for giving us this opportunity to share our love of these wholesome dog treats with you. |
